Ricardo Inc.
Frank Alex, Vice President
Finance, IT and Facilities
In September 2001 Ricardo Inc. hired P2M when we
decided to consolidate our business from several satellite
locations by constructing a "build to suit"
80,000 square foot combination office and garage space
to be tied into our current 35,000 square foot facility
to create a Technology Campus. This would allow us
to shut down our satellite locations and consolidate
our operations into one location.
P2M was hired because Ricardo lacked experience in
all phases of this project and it was very important
to Ricardo's management team and shareholders that
this project was kept on a very tight cost and schedule
budget.
P2M was very instrumental in the design, execution,
completion and employee relocation of this project.
In the design phase P2M was able to help us identify
our needs and the "look" of the new building
that coincided with our corporate image. During execution
P2M's experience allowed us to differentiate between
what was a necessary change and what was a "nice
to have". They were also directly responsible
for ensuring that all changes were properly approved
in the most cost-effective manner. This made the whole
change order process, a normally rigorous and confusing
process, organized and efficient and to Ricardo's
benefit. Upon completion of the project P2M ensured
that all contractual obligations were met and a completed
project was delivered to Ricardo's satisfaction. P2M
also developed our employee relocation plan that allowed
us to move over 1/3 of our employees without any interruption
in our business.
The project was completed on time and under budget.
None of this could have been achieved without P2M's
involvement in the project. It is safe to say that
P2M saved Ricardo over $1,000,000 while allowing Ricardo's
employees to stay focused on the day to day operations
of running their business and not be distracted by
a building project of this magnitude.
Anyone planning to embark on a project like the one
described above and did not fully use the capabilities
of P2M, would be missing out on a great opportunity
to tap into the knowledge and experience that P2M
provides to make their client’s project a successful
one.
